A 2014 study study conducted by the University of Nevada found that the more books children have at home, the better they’ll do in school. Those with the fewest books — typically children from low-income families — benefitted the most per additional book added to the home.
by providing ownership of age appropriate books. We encourage an early love of reading as a vehicle for success and aim to stimulate children’s creative minds by helping to build their personal book collections.
SWEET READS was founded in early 2016 by former practicing attorney and lifelong book lover, Tamiko Hubbard. While reflecting on the wonderful children’s books sitting on the shelves of her home, that her children had since outgrown, she came up with an idea. The idea was that these as well as other books needed to go directly into the hands of children who do not have the access to bountiful personal libraries.
SWEET READS is proud to have Board Members who truly believe in SWEET READS’ mission. They have vast experience in the legal field, education, advising non-profits, grant writing and organizational fund raising.
We appreciate your monetary donations. Here’s how we work hard to ensure that your donations are delivered directly to those that need it most.
